[Yaaarc] Flutterbots and Firefighting

Hi YAARC, Erik,

I'm trying an experiment in my kitchen and I just don't have the right
equipment. We just got back from the Canadian Robot Games. Flutterbots
took 2nd and 3rd in the line following. We also had several robots in
the firefighting. The problem we had was that the lights put out way
too much UV and our detectors were all blind.

I remember someone (I think it was Keith) saying that he had seen a
very sensitive remote temperature measurement done with a thermocouple
and a flashlight reflector. I was wondering if anyone had any
knowledge/experience/information about that idea?

Erik, I'm trying to get a measurement with a meat thermometer and a
flashlight reflector. Do you have any tiny thermocouples that I could
do a quick experiment on tomorrow afternoon?

Is there still any interest in a YAAARC vs. OCRC robot contest?

Regards,
George Albercook
